What to do this New Year’s Eve in Seoul

By Giacomo Lee. Read the dark side to Seoul city in his novel Funereal, out now on Amazon UK & US.

Repeating the success of their last countdown show, Glen Check will be playing a massive Seoul concert in Blue Square this December 31st to welcome in 2014. You can buy standing & sitting tickets in English from Interpark using Internet Explorer + a credit card. I bought mine straight after hearing their new album Youth!, which was released this week on iTunes and in autographed form via YesAsia. The track below sealed the deal for me, Summer Hearts, which I’m sure’s going to go down a storm when the GC duo play it Stateside during SXSW 2014. I’ve put it up on Soundcloud till anyone from their label wants me to take it down, so have a listen to see how fun the Young Generation show’s going to be, banishing the Korean winter blues much like Youth! does with its post-Phoenix & Kitsune-meets-DFA indie dance. It’s a late contender for album of the year, and the last great summer album of 2013. Bad timing perhaps, but let’s see if Pitchfork prick up their ears after South by Southwest.
